Stereotyping

Stereotyping is an unfair thing that people say that's not true, you should never judge a book by it's cover.  It can be offensive to other people because it can make them feel different when they're not.

Here is an example of stereotyping - ‘girls only like pink and boys only like blue.’ I disagree because people can choose what colour they like and don't like.

Here is another example of stereotyping - ‘boys only play rough sports and girls don't.’ I disagree because lots of girls play rough sports like me as an example, I play rugby league and some boys might like netball.

A third example of stereotyping  is ‘all asians are smart. I agree and disagree. I agree because I go home and watch TV while some Asians I know go home and study. I also disagree because some Asians could really struggle and need lots of help.

Overall I think that stereotyping is an unfair because it can hurt people's feelings.  People can choose what colour they like and what sport they play. Never judge somebody by the way they look.
